The Ivey Baker Band came into being in 2001 with a desire to touch lives through the pure country sound and a message of hope through original material.

The Coming Together of The Band

In 1985, Dennis Ivey walked away from a career in country music. He had become born-again, and felt he needed to follow God's plan for his life, rather than his own. He laid everything down, even his music, but always believed that one day the Lord would open doors for him to put together a band for concerts, recording projects and ministry. He met Jerry Baker one day at a convenience store, and they began to share with each other about their past and what they wanted to do in the future. It was basically the same thing. Dennis believes God put them together to become a team, and began praying and believing for the musicians and the answers to come. Today the band has some of the finest musicians you will find anywhere, and their heart is playing for the Lord. Dennis thanks the Lord daily for all His blessings, and he always says, "It's all about HIM." Dennis sings and plays rhythm guitar in the band.

When Jerry Baker gave his heart to the Lord in 1996, he thought how great it would be to be part of a band that played the same style of music he had played in the clubs, but with Christian lyrics. Then he ran across music from Ken Hollaway and Bruce Haynes, and was blown away. About a year later, right out of the blue at the Diamond Shamrock, he met Dennis Ivey. They immediately began talking about music. Dennis invited Jerry to his church, the Harvest Church, to sing. Jerry came out and found his church family. Every time he drove by the Harvest Church, he felt the Holy Spirit was telling him that this was where God wanted him. Not only did he find his church family, but a true friend and Pastor, Dennis Ivey. Jerry sings and plays rhythm guitar in the band.
